Based in Llanberis at the foot of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), Highlife Rope Access is passionate about the history that gives both the landscape and villages of this unique area their character. Unfortunately, many of the dwellings in these villages have often been repaired in haphazard fashion over the years, with cement used extensively on buildings originally built using lime. Often, this compromises the intended function of older buildings, and leads to issues with damp, so a considered approach is welcome when deciding how to deal with such problems. In many instances, modern building techniques aren't suitable for the sorts of buildings found in the area, and so Highlife is now using expertise gained working on historic monuments to offer an affordable and complete package for restoring Wales' beautiful and colourful dwellings to their prior functional selves. Core Drilling
Welsh houses have thick stone walls which can be a nightmare to drill through for plumbing installations, or to install bathroom vents etc. Using our state of the art equipment and experience we can provide a core drilling service for buildings in the North Wales area.
Lime Pointing
As experts in lime pointing, we treat each building as unique, and will design mortars suited to the specific considerations of your home. Whether you have damp issues you're trying to solve, or you just want a more eco solution than cement, we have years of experience using all kinds of lime mortars and work hard to provide a finish that is second to none.
Chimneys
Chimneys are exposed to the weather and are often one of the first places to check if you are experiencing damp issues. Whether your chimney needs reflaunching, new chimney pots, lead drip detail installation, repointing or rendering in lime mortar, we are able to get your chimney functioning to a standard befitting of your property.
Lime Washing
It used to be that all buildings were lime washed. As well as providing some weather protection, lime washing increases the drying face for lime mortars or plasters, aiding in the movement of moisture. Nowadays buildings are often painted with plastic paints which do more harm than good. If you would rather a less harsh solution we can offer both lime washing and shelter coating services.
Roofing
Whether you need some broken or slipped slates replacing, lead flashings fixed, velux windows swapped out, or your entire roof reslated, we are able to offer a complete roofing service on slated buildings.
Fire Places
It is common for beautiful old fire places to have been concealed by something more modern. We are able to expose your original fireplace, install a hearth, and conduct small scale lime plastering to create a lovely organic feel. Ideal if you intend on installing a log burner.
